Q: Does Knit Visualizer work on Mac OS Catalina (10.15.x)?

A: No.  Apple decided to stop supporting 32 bit apps as of Mac OS Catalina. Because of this we no longer offer a mac version for sale (as of Nov 2019) until we get an updated version that works as a 64 bit version. If you are interested in purchasing anyway - please reach out to us.

Q: Can I install the full version on top of the demo?

A: It's a good idea to uninstall or delete the demo from your system, just to make sure you don't run the demo accidentally when you wanted to run the full version.

Q: For the Mac version, Why do I need to have (at least) Mac OS X 10.4?

A: There are system files/libraries in that version of the OS needed for Knit Visualizer to run sucessfully. Apple doesn't support these libraries on previous versions of OS X.

Q: For the Mac version, will it run on Catalina?

A: Not at this time. Knit Visualizer is a 32 bit app and Catalina will no longer allow 32 bit apps to run.  I've taken a look at getting it to run as a 64 bit app - but the process involves a major upgrade in the libraries it uses so timing on a release is extremely uncertain.

Q: MAC: Will it run on Leopard (10.5.x) and Tiger (10.4.x)?

A: Yes

Q: Windows: Will it run on Win XP, Windows 7 or Windows Vista?

A: Yes

Q: How do I register my software?

A: When you buy directly from us at knitfoundry.com, you are automatically registered when we get your payment. Note: http://www.knitfoundry.com is the ONLY authorized seller of immediate downloads for Knit Visualizer.   We used to sell the software on CDs and you were registered when your payment was made at that time.

Q: What if I buy Knit Visualizer as a gift, and the recipient needs to register the software in their name?

A: Send us an email and let us know who the purchase is for.

Q: Can I use the charts I create in Knit Visualizer in my commercial (for-sale) patterns?

A: Yes, you can use the charts you create in any type of pattern, blog, web site. While it's not necessary, we'd love to hear about your creations, so please let us know!

Q: Why do you allow me to hide the chart in the Preview window?

A: In case you'd like to put the legend in your pattern in a different place other than right next to or under the chart. Sometimes the formatting of your pattern prevents you taking a large space all in one area; so this lets you work with your chart and Legend the way you want

Q: I would like to use a specific symbol that you don't include. What can I do?

A: You can use version 2.0+ to create your own stitches. See the manual for details on how to do this.

Q: Where's the Manual? It wasn't included with the download after I purchased Knit Visualizer

A: The manual for Knit Visualizer is available as a free download, and we assume most people will want to take a look at it before they buy Knit Visualizer. We don't re-include it again to avoid making the download for the full version of the software even larger. The latest manual is always available via a link from the Knit Visualizer page.
